The Vision

From the Headmaster

We are completing our first semester at Richmond Academy. Time has not slowed down as we have kept up with the hunger for knowledge of our students. Seventy one percent of our students maintained their honor roll status this semester. We have been busy educating and count this semester successful as we see the progress our students and faculty have made.

Our school motto is “Let Truth Prevail.” We believe that truth is a vital part of education. It is truth that validates academics to students. In every subject, we strive to prove that what we teach is true and if there is any question, we study until we find it.

(2 Tim 2:15 KJV)  "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

We believe that Richmond Academy will find the approval of families as well as we continue diligently to achieve excellence in education.

-Dr. S. Chad Ross

Financial Help for Families

At this time, we offer multi-student discounts for all families. We can also offer up to a 5% discount based on financial need. Beyond this, most churches understand the importance of their children getting a private Christian education and will help. Families interested in Richmond Academy with a financial need should speak to their church's board members and ask for help.

Churches should mail checks payable to Richmond Academy with the student's name written in the memo field.

Advanced Kindergartens

“Richmond Academy offers more that just a preschool for four year olds and a kindergarten for five year olds,” said Dr. Ross. “We offer kindergarten for both ages giving children an extra edge in preparing them for elementary school.”

Ross said that Richmond Academy’s kindergarten programs teach students to read with phonics and write in cursive.

“Richmond Academy’s philosophy on phonics and cursive comes down to consistency and quality,” said Ross. “Students should not be taught one way to read and write and then unlearn that practice two or three years later. Learning correctly from the beginning gives students long term quality reading and writing abilities.”

Richmond Academy’s “k4 is more than a preschool; it is a kindergarten for four year olds.

Richmond Academy’s “k5 teaches cursive writing and reading with phonics. This helps your child get an early start and stay ahead.

Ways to Pray for Your Child

Pray that your child will develop a keen sense of what is right and wrong and will abhor evil and cling to that which is good. (Romans 12:9; Psalm 139:23-24; 51:10)

Pray for your child’s total development: an increase in wisdom (mentally), in stature (physically) and in favor with God (spiritually) and man (socially). (Luke 2:52)

Pray that God will create in your child a thankful heart and positive mental attitude. (Psalm 126:2-3;Romans 8:31)

Pray that God would make your child successful in the work God has planned for him to do. (Psalm 118:25;139: 9-10; Ephesians 2:10)

Pray that your child will have and value a strong sense of belonging to a family that is loving and dwells together in unity. (Psalm 133; Colossians 3:12-14)

Pray that your child will respect those in authority over him. (Romans 13:1; Ephesians 7:1-4)

From the Student’s Desk

"Scotch!" T yelled for Scotch at the top of her lungs. He spun around with the usually clueless look on his face right as she jumped in the mud puddle closest to him. "What up my friend?" Cheer glowed from her face.

"Whoa…Is this the same girl who was scared into tears yesterday about not making it into the solo space for the Talent show?"

"Yes, yes, tis me my friend. Guess what!"

"You made the spot!"

T slugged him hard in the arm, "You weren't actually supposed to Guess!" Right as she spoke Gunt walked to the scene.

"Gunt would you please help me understand the female language please!"

"Oh yeah sure I know everything. Oh wise Gunther we plead for your wisdom and understanding!" Gunt played the king part well.

“Gunt!” T smacked him on his back as hard as she could.

"T what is it with you today? Violence!" Scotch shot her the mean parent look of disgust.

"Anyway, help me here Gunt, Yes means……"

"Whoa whoa you can't just start at yes man! The female vocab is way harder to understand than that! You see if she is in an obviously bad mood and says she doesn't want to talk about it then you must play the understanding pal and ask her what's wrong anyway. If she wants to talk about it than it doesn't matter whether you ask or not, she is going to talk period."

Scotch shot him another confused look. “Yeah man you speak it as well as they do."

"Dude I live with one, besides they all speak it fluently..." He saw T's expression and quickly changed it to "Except T and Danny of course they’re just like us."

"Oh dude that was smooth, but you may not have salvaged the wiseness at all. Here comes the other weird tongue speaker now." Just as he finished Danny showed up.

"Oh dude! You guys here the news? Brandy B. Attitude is trying out for the group part at the talent show." Just then a devastating look of pain crossed T's face.

"Oh no, T, I should have asked you before I started chowing my words out backwards, how did it go?"

"Absolutely Fantastic! Just wonderful! I am so thrilled I got the part." Sarcasm oozed from T's lips as Danny stole Scotch's clueless expression and became silent.

"Yo you guys, this seems like a really nice time to skip out, Danny, Mom said that if you're going to Scotch's tonight you need to tell me because her and dad will be gone all eve so you going?"

"Yeah, you coming?" Scotch almost seemed hopeful.

"Yeah, I'm walking home with him I'll see ya later Gunt!" As Gunt and Danny separated T decided to follow Gunt.

"Hey T what are you doing? Don't you usually go with Scotch on Fridays"

"Yeah well nothing about today is very usual now is it?"  Gunt glanced her direction. Her mood of conquer the world had quickly ceased and she seemed unusually quiet, even for T.

"T…." Gunt looked at her questioningly. "Nothing Gunt."
