Our History

In May of 2002, the Lord laid upon the hearts of Dr. S. Chad Ross and his wife Rebekah to start a Christian school ministry on the west side of Richmond, Indiana. After one year of preparation, Richmond Academy opened its doors on Monday, August 18, 2003, in business offices converted to classrooms at 2000 West Main Street, Suite B.

The school had nine students that year. In August of 2004, converted classrooms and offices at Suite A, 2000 West Main Street were added to the school. In 2005, Richmond Academy received Freeway Accreditation from the Indiana Department of Education and held its first high school graduation with one student. In 2006, land at 1900 West Main Street was provided by Living Word Christian Fellowship to build 10,000 square foot school with a high school regulation gymnasium.

We continue to share space with Living Word as we grow and prepare for the future. We launched a new block schedule in our high school in the 2014-2015 school year, providing our high school students a more college-like experience and more electives taught by a wider variety of teachers. We anticipate we will graduate our largest group of high school students over the next few years, thanks to rapid growth in the higher grades since 2013. For the 2015-2016 school year, we re-launched our Pre-K program, offering new options for full and half-days and adding after-care and begin the year with a record enrollment.

We have seen God’s hand in amazing ways over the years as He has continued to bless our school. We are thankful for the obedience of our leaders of the past, present and future. RA remains committed to the mission of producing Christian servant leaders who will serve both the church and society. The goal for the RA team is to live as holy servants on this earth. In everything we do, we should have a passion to accomplish the mission of Christ and embrace holiness. Through traditional and non-traditional educational delivery methods, students will make a difference throughout the region, state, nation, and world.
