Administration & Staff (2016-17 Academic Year)
Jenny Penrod, Administrator
Mrs. Penrod has a bachelor’s in biblical studies and early childhood education. She has taught in elementary and high school at RA. She has also dedicated time to reviewing and improving the school curriculum. She has been connected to the school since 2013 and became administrator in 2016.
Kimberly Hathaway, Office Manager
Mrs. Hathaway joined our team in 2013 and brings extensive office management experience to the school. She handles multiple duties and also has a student in high school.
Diana Vaughn, Pre-K & Kindergarten
Mrs. Vaughn has 30 years experience working with children. She has joined our team to re-launch our Pre-K program, which includes full and half-day options. She has experience with A Beka curriculum, and comes to us from Fountain City Church’s ‘Kids Kingdom.’ She is CPR certified and has training in steps to advance a child’s physical and intellectual development. She also leads a summer program at the school.
Ramona Chappell, Elementary (Grades 1-2)
Mrs. Chappell is a familiar face at RA but joined us full-time in the 2015-2016 school year. Her husband, Mr. Ron Chappell, also serves as a substitute teacher at RA regularly.
Jera Smith: Elementary (Grades 3-4)
Mrs. Smith has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and experience in professional children’s services, along with serving as a substitute teacher in Richmond Academy and for Richmond Community Schools. She serves on her church worship team and in the children’s ministry.
Tiffany Toth, Elementary (Grades 5-6)
Mrs. Toth is experienced in Christian education, having taught 5th and 6th grades at Christian schools in Ohio, using the same curriculum we use at RA. She is also experienced in substituting in all grades, and brings skills including music, cheer-leading squad work, PE and drama.
Kayla Kettlehake, High School
Mrs. Kettlehake teaches several subjects, including math and science.
At least two new high school staff members for our growing team.
Rhiannon Stanton, Intervention/Tutoring
Miss Stanton brings 9 years teaching experience, a love for children and of course a love for Christian education. She taught several years at RA, left for a season and returned in the 2015-2016 school year to take over our 3-4 classroom. She returns in a new role for 2016-2017, leading a tutoring and intervention program.
Our Advisory Board, made up of community volunteers, has assumed a much more active role in the school and has also expanded in the past four years. We appreciate their willingness to serve the cause of Christian education.
Larry Price, Board President
Mr. Price has been involved with Richmond Academy since it first opened in 2003. His daughter is a 2014 graduate and his son is a 2016 graduate — and the first student who attended all grades K-12 at RA. Mr. Price works full-time at Reid Health as Director of Community Relations.
Eric Werking, Vice President
Mr. Werking owns his own business but dedicates a lot of time to RA, where he serves a Chapel Club adviser, works with students and subs in classrooms. He also chairs our admissions and personnel committees for the board.
David Oakley, Board Secretary
Mr. Oakley, along with his late wife Tammy Oakley, have supported Richmond Academy since its inception in numerous ways. He has served on the board throughout much of the school’s history. His full-time work is serving on the security team at Reid.
Jeff Raatz, Member
Senator Raatz led our school through a major transitional year as our principal for 2013-14. After being elected State Senator, he has remained connected to our school on our advisory board.
Jason Johnson, Member
Mr. Johnson, who teaches computer science at Ivy Tech, joined the board in 2016 after enrolling two of his daughters at RA.He chairs our board’s technology committee.
Yvonne Washington, Member
Mrs. Washington brings a lot of experience with children, as well as having two grandchildren as students at RA. She is also a prayer warrior for the school.
Also, thank you to the regular part-time staff and volunteers that help make the Richmond Academy experience exceptional, including: maintenance, lunch services, cleaning services, chapel services and more.
